VINES AND THREADS FOR UKRAINE
We mark the anniversary of Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine by hosting events that celebrate the spirit of Ukraine, traditional embroidery and centuries-old sparkling wine production.

Artwine

March 15, 2023 | 6 PM

Exhibition until April 22nd, 2023

Redwood Library & Athenaeum, 50 Bellevue Ave, Newport RI

Join us for “Vines and Threads” an exhibition opening and wine tasting aimed at supporting Ukrainian strength and resilience while being inspired by the country’s wine and culture.

VINES - Artwinery, a Bakhmut winery with a centuries-long history and tradition of cultivation and production. The region is currently embroiled in brutal trench warfare while the winery’s millions of bottles of sparkling wine age deep underground.

THREADS - The dazzling embroidery of the blouses and garments worn by displaced Ukrainian women and
girls, who have formed a choir in Germany, are captured by Ukrainian photographer, Ksenia Lisna. The resilience and beauty of her kinswomen are portrayed through the captivating use of composition and natural elements.

Inna Walker will give insights into the photography and circumstances surrounding the collection, while Gayle Corrigan will lead the wine tasting and pairing of Ukrainian wines with Ukrainian chocolates and crackers.

A silent auction will give participants the opportunity to bid on some of the last bottles of Ukrainian wine in the U.S. and the world. Ticket proceeds will benefit the Liberty Ukraine Foundation, a 501(c)(3) based in Austin, Texas,"fundraising for Ukrainian residents, servicemen and women, first-aid workers, medical
facilities, and victims of the war in Ukraine.”

FEBRUARY 24, 2023 | 6 PM

The Hope Club, 6 Benevolent Street, Providence, RI

Join us for an intimate evening of warm hospitality, vital conversation, and Ukrainian culture.

Start the evening by enjoying Ukrainian hors d’oeuvre and foods paired with the last available bottles of Artwinery’s fine sparkling wines. An exhibition of displaced Ukrainian photographer Ksenia Lisna’s evocative work sets the mood, offering a window into the beauty and perseverance of Ukrainians.

Then move to the ballroom for uplifting, interactive presentations. Marking the first anniversary of Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine, a panel discussion will inspire deeper understanding of recent developments and honor the resolute spirit of Ukraine, as experts share firsthand experiences.

The evening finishes with a Ukrainian dessert and wine reception, featuring famous Kyivan chocolates and Ukrainian Muscat wine from the Koblevo winery in Odesa.

A silent auction, including wines that are the last of their kind in the world, will raise money for the Ukrainian Wine Charitable Foundation and Artwinery workers as they gather in a secret location to hand package evacuated wines from Bakhmut to export to the U.S., Liberty Ukraine's Made-in-Ukraine project providing thermal clothing for soldiers defending Bakhmut, and for Ksenia Lisna to continue her creative exploration of this pivotal time in Ukraine's history
